Karl Zvirynsky’s germetic circle

350,00 грн.

The monograph album covers the activities of one of the centers of alternative art Lviv of the 1960s – “Hermetic Circle of Karl Zvirynsky”, the work of its participants against the background of artistic processes in Ukraine and the world.  For the first time the early works of Karl Zvirynsky and his students were collected in a single scientific context: Roman Petruk, Oleg Minko, Bohdan Soyka, Zenovia Flinta, Andriy Bokotey, Oleksandra Tsehelska, Ivan Marchuk, Petro Hrytsyk, Petro Markovych.

Quotes from interviews, tables and syllabi of lectures – reveal the truth about the activities of his “underground academy” and the essence of the creative method of Teacher.  The little-exposed legacy of Karl Zvirynsky and his students illustrates the aesthetic contradiction of artistic Ukraine in the 1960s, where current processes took place outside of official culture.

The album uses reproductions from the family collections of artists in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, New York, from the collections of A. Sheptytsky’s National Museum in Lviv, B. Voznytsky’s Lviv National Gallery of Arts and the Ukrainian Museum in New York.

The monograph will be a find for historians, art theorists, culturologists, artists and all connoisseurs of Ukrainian art.
